Angelina Jolie’s Dad Was Missing from Her Wedding to Brad Pitt — Here’s What We Know

While Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wedding was a beautiful, private celebration of love and family, one notable absence didn’t go unnoticed — Angelina’s father, actor Jon Voight, was not in attendance.

The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at their Château Miraval estate in France, surrounded by their six children and a close circle of loved ones. The kids played key roles in the wedding — from walking Jolie down the aisle to helping design her one-of-a-kind wedding veil — making it a deeply personal and family-centered event. But Jolie’s estranged father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, was nowhere to be seen.

So, what happened?

At the time, Voight publicly expressed no bitterness about being left off the guest list. In fact, he told Inside Edition he was happy for the couple, saying, “It sounds like it was a wonderful wedding. It must have been very beautiful with the kids participating. I’m very happy for them.”

Jon and Angelina have had a famously rocky relationship over the years, marked by long periods of estrangement. Jolie once even dropped “Voight” from her name, citing personal and emotional distance from her father. Though the two had reportedly begun mending their relationship in more recent years — especially following Jolie’s health struggles and her humanitarian work — it seems their bond wasn’t quite back to the place where he would be part of such an intimate milestone.

Brad, on the other hand, had both of his parents — Jane and William Pitt — present for the ceremony, highlighting the differing family dynamics at play.

While the absence of Jolie’s father sparked some speculation, insiders suggested that the actress simply wanted the day to be about her children, her partnership with Brad, and the life they’ve built together — not about old wounds or complicated family history.

Ultimately, the wedding reflected what mattered most to the couple: love, unity, and the presence of their children. And for Angelina, that may have been more than enough.
