Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Officially Finalize Divorce After Eight Years

After more than eight years of legal battles and public scrutiny, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially finalized their divorce. The settlement was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 30, 2024, bringing an end to one of Hollywood's most high-profile and contentious separations. Details of the settlement remain confidential, including financial terms and custody arrangements for their six children.

A Long and Tumultuous Journey

Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, citing "irreconcilable differences." The split followed serious allegations of abusive behavior against Pitt during a 2016 incident aboard a private jet, leading to an FBI investigation. Pitt was never charged, and he has consistently denied the allegations.

The divorce proceedings were further complicated by disputes over custody of their children and the future of their shared property, Château Miraval, a French winery. In 2022, Jolie sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group without Pitt's consent, leading to a lawsuit. The legal wrangling over the property continues, despite the finalized divorce.

Statements from the Parties Involved

Jolie's attorney, James Simon, issued a statement expressing relief over the settlement:

"Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

Representatives for Pitt have not publicly commented on the settlement.

Moving Forward

With the divorce finalized, both Jolie and Pitt are focusing on their respective futures. Jolie continues her humanitarian work and has recently returned to acting, while Pitt is involved in various film projects. Despite the end of their marriage, the legal disputes over shared assets like Château Miraval indicate that their legal entanglements may persist for some time.
